Ludlow was awarded Fairtrade Town status in November 2003.
Fairtrade is one way of fighting poverty and the unjust trading system which poor communities in the
developing world find themselves up against.
Please support Fairtrade in Ludlow and help farmers and communities in developing countries work
and live sustainably.

OUR AIMS
Fairtrade helps farmers and producers to get engaged in trade and gain their fair share of the benefits.
By paying farmers and producers a fair price, by making long term commitments to them and by paying a premium
to invest in sustainable development e.g. water supplies and health projects, Fairtrade ensures that the
products we consume have been produced without exploitation.
OUR ACTIVITIES
The Group promotes Fairtrade in Ludlow in independent shops, supermarkets, cafes, schools, churches and
local businesses and charities.
Regular events are held such as
a monthly Fairtrade stall at one (2nd Thursdays) of the Local to Ludlow Farmers' Markets
a permanent Traidcraft outlet at Ludlow Conference Centre, Lower Galdeford open 9-5 Mondays to Fridays
a permanent Traidcraft stall at Wesleys Cafe in Broad Street Methodist Church (a Churches
Together Around Ludlow venture)
a permanent Traidcraft stall in St Laurence's Church Shop.
During Fairtrade Fortnight annually in February/March, activities and displays
are organised in order to further encourage the purchase of Fairtrade products.
The Group also focuses attention on wider issues of unfair international trade, joining with national
campaigns. These campaigns work to change the rules that govern world trade in favour of and
not against poor people in the developing world.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
The Group needs volunteers to man stalls and encourage the expansion of Fairtrade in existing locations as well as promote further Fairtrade outlets in Ludlow and its hinterland.
The working group would also welcome new members and new ideas.
